The Boss up is the bigger brother of the S Boss, Kelly's first-ever midlength.
Designed by Dan Mann in partnership with Kelly Slater and Kevin Schulz, this utility midlength is the most well-rounded and versatile shape in the Slater Designs range, crafted to cruise across weak wave faces and grind through cavernous overhead tubes.
The Boss Up is the board you would travel with if you could only bring one board with you. Your one board quiver with maximum performance in a purely versatile package.
Recommended to ride roughly +13 liters more volume than your standard shortboard, paired with the KS1 5 Fin Template configured as a Quad.
This board manifested itself into existence as a blindingly obvious next step for the SBoss. After riding the SBoss for about 18 months I realized how perfectly all the same outstanding design features of the SBoss would translate into a performance midlength.
The dna of a midlength that fits into the Slater Design world would need to stand out in its look and be outstanding in its performance, paddling and diversity. Once again the rocker plays a key role in this shape and the experience I’ve had with performance LongBoards like the TJ Pro and V helped me tune the rocker that best fits the need for maximum performance without losing glide and paddle speed.
The board comes as a five fin but I ride it almost exclusively as a quad... the fin placement on the BossUp is adjusted so I can ride the same quads I ride in all my boards including the SBoss.

This is the most versatile board in the Slater Designs range, it works in everything from smaller surf to barrels. The crew has been loving it in punchy surf with an open face, a perfect board for carving and linking turns. While many look at this shape for small and gutless surf, it would work well at a big point break like Pavones or Rincon, or even a big day at Sunset.
BOARD FEATURES
The Boss Up is an elongated evolution of the S Boss, with bigger dimensions and a longer rail line for enhanced drive and versatility across all conditions. This shape is one that doesn't command you dial-in your volume perfectly - any single surfer can ride the Boss Up in a variety of sizes. Around +13 liters of volume more than your standard shortboard is the team's recommendation.

Selv om Firewire nå er et kjent navn i surfebrettverdenen, er det mange mennesker som ikke er klar over at det faktisk har en dyp og rik historie som går tilbake til 1990-tallet. Firewire var faktisk opprinnelig surfebrettmerket Nev, som ble ledet av Neville Hyman, en respektert og produktiv shaper i Western Australia.
Hyman utvidet Nev og skapte Firewire i 2006, ved å bruke maskinell formeteknologi og epoxy sandwich-konstruksjon for å lage noen av de mest høyteknologiske surfebrettene på markedet. Siden den gang har nesten alle respekterte brettmerker gått videre til å adoptere en eller annen form for variasjon av Firewires futuristiske konstruksjonsprosesser. I mellomtiden har Firewire ekspandert globalt, kjøpt opp flere andre merker og lagt til flere av verdens beste surfebrettdesignere og shapere i stallen sin.
Kelly Slater investerte i selskapet for noen år tilbake og integrerte sine Slater Designs-brett i Firewire-familien, noe som brakte shapere som Dan Mann, Akila Aipa og Daniel "Tomo" Thomson til laget.
