Rob says that the Too Fish is : "My favorite in small and weak waves because of how thick and floaty it is in the forward two thirds of the board, but this shape is also thinned out aggressively in the tail to enable hold in powerful waves. I've ridden the Too Fish in everything from overhead waves on the North Shore to perfect days on the reef at home, and also the weakest most disorganized junk surf at the beach break in front of my house. This is my favorite board for all conditions." The resurrection of the Original GO FISH but with a new bottom designed for speed and function. I have removed the channel from the bottom and created a smoother flow of water throughout the tail while still encompassing the original design with some vee off the tips of the tail.  Performance advantages It is extremely fast and is very trustworthy in steep surf. It likes the pocket a lot more and has much more bite in it than a Seaside.  Works great at your true shortboard liters, largely due the wider tail. It also paddles a little better than the Seaside.   In sizing up (2-4L above your ‘normal’), it may be the best board in our offering. The sweet spot is bigger and less critical, you can surf forward on it easily, it generates great speed down the line, but with great control and the rail still engages well. It was found to be more trustworthy in steeper sections that the Seaside and is an ideal board (rivaling/ even beating out the Sweet Potato, SUN and SAB) for a board with glide that has more performance.    In comparison to  Go Fish - It’s a lot quicker in the pocket compared to the Go Fish.  Doesn’t hold a rail quite as well as the Go Fish, but definitely much more maneuverable in the pocket. Seaside – Rides VERY different to the Seaside. The rails bury into the water further and allow a tighter turn.  It’s also easier to change direction back to the open face after a little down carve or cut back.  The Too Fish pivots more like a shortboard. The seaside pivots more like an 80’s shortboard.  A little more above the water and you need to wash the speed a bit for it to roll to the rail. Egentlig bare en videreutvikling av Go Fish til noe nytt. Go Fish går fort og føles skatey og loose, noe jeg elsker, men etter å ha brukt det i et par år fikk jeg lyst på en mer high performance følelse – mer carves og tightere svinger. Så Seaside handler om raffinering… mindre flate i tailen, smalere tupper på swallow-tailen, mer kurve og en smalere nose. Alle disse elementene er laget for ripping, mens Go Fish forblir cruisey og morsom. Seaside er kun quad, hvorfor? Jeg bestemte meg for at hvis jeg først skulle lage en quad, så skulle jeg lage en quad som utelukkende er en quad… og designe concaves og bunnkonturer rundt det. Jeg redesignet faktisk hele oppsettet for concave som jeg har brukt på Moonbeam og Go Fish, og gjorde det med quad-oppsettet i tankene slik at alt fungerer sammen. Hvorfor kalle opp denne shapen etter hjemme-breaket ditt, Seaside? Å gi navn til surfebrett må være det vanskeligste i hele verden (ler). Det er bare den perfekte lille sticken når jeg surfer mitt hjemmested, Seaside. Hvorfor er Seaside bygget i Helium? Den første jeg laget for Tahiti var i LFT, og jeg brukte den i 6 fots tuber. Men de fleste surfer en shape som Seaside på beach breaks og små point breaks, så vi laget den i Helium fordi det er veldig lett, veldig responsivt, har mye flex med en mykere følelse og er veldig slitesterkt. Jeg mener det er det beste alternativet for en shape som Seaside i mindre og svakere bølger. Lost RNF 96 5'8 (32L) Blacksheep Surfebrett Størrelse: 5'8″ x 20.25″ x 2.46″ - 32 Liter Finneoppsett: 3-fin Futures set up - Finner ikke inkludert Farge: Black Sheep Black Konstruksjon: Black Sheep Built Matt Biolos om Lost Round Nose Fish 96: RNF-’96… Etter å ha formet flere variasjoner av «fish» fra høsten 1994 til 1995, hadde vi skapt et visst moment med designene. Da vi gikk inn i vinteren ’95/’96, hadde vi forfinet et grunnleggende design som gjorde at vi med viss kontinuitet kunne finjustere, kopiere og endre størrelsen på den originale RNF (for hånd). Vi fortsatte å bygge små brettsamlinger for både Chris Ward og Cory Lopez, og sendte dem overalt, der Cory tok med seg ulike versjoner til hver stopp på WQS-touren. Disse 1996-fish-brettene var alle håndformet og ikke de mest konsistente kreasjonene, men de ble grunnlaget og byggesteinene for å tilby designet til folk utenfor vår egen vennekrets. Dette var brettene som tenåringene Chris og Cory tok med til North Shore og i praksis satte sitt uutslettelige preg på surfiverdenen. RNF-’96 er basert med ærefrykt, men ikke 100 % samsvar, på den originale «fish»-modellen vi utviklet for Chris og Cory i året opp mot den banebrytende surffilmen 5’5” x 19 1/4” fra 1997. Selv om svært få eksemplarer fra denne æraen fremdeles eksisterer (i hvert fall i vår besittelse), og de fleste som gjør det er veldig tynne og uperfekte relikvier av Corys brett (vi finner ingen av Chris sine fra denne tiden i det hele tatt), koker noe av gjenskapingen og utførelsen ned til å gjøre det som ser og føles riktig ut … og hva som vil fungere best. Jeg har fortsatt restene av et personlig brett i 5’10 x 20” x 2-5/8”. Et brett jeg tok med meg til Durban i Sør-Afrika i juli ’96. Dette var et frigjørende og livsendrende brett for små bølger i min utvikling — ikke bare som designer, men som surfer som slet med standardbrettene på midten av 90-tallet. Dette brettet gjorde det mulig for meg å surfe veldig små, manøvrerbare bølger i og rundt Durban-pirene et par uker det året. Jeg hadde aldri før hatt så mange folk (inkludert andre brettformere) som spurte meg: «Hva er det du surfer på?», og jeg skjønte da at vi var inne på noe mer enn bare overfladisk fish-moro. Disse designene var noe hele surfeverdenen kunne gripe tak i og ha glede av. Jeg har alltid følt at den viktigste forskjellen mellom vår RNF og flertallet av andre, fra 90-tallet og fremover, er det faktum at våre konturer alltid var mer basert på MR-inspirerte, ytelsesorienterte og konkurransefokuserte twin fins fra sent på 70-tallet og tidlig på 80-tallet. Relativt smale haler, utviklet gjennom prøving og feiling, for maksimal ytelse og kontroll … ikke bare i små bølger, men i alle bølgestørrelser og -former. Kort sagt var de fleste fish-brett siden den gang i hovedsak influert av kneeboards. Inspirert av tidlig 70-tallsstil, Lis-inspirerte kneeboards med bred hale og parallelle konturer som fungerte fint over til stående surfing i små bølger, men som har kjempet for å komme i nærheten av toppytelsen til moderne shortboards siden. Vår fish handler alltid om ytelse, ikke bare som et hjelpemiddel for å gå raskt i små bølger. For å skape bedre surfebrett har vi tatt oss visse friheter. Basert på de siste 25 årene med brettbygging prøvde vi å skape et konsistent (og tør jeg si bedre) surfebrett, trofast basert på, men ikke nødvendigvis identisk med de varierte RNF-modellene fra 1996. Med grundig testing utført av mange på topplaget vårt, inkludert Kolohe, Coco, Ian Crane, Crosby Cola og andre «gjester» (og til og meks eksperimentell testing av meg selv) de siste månedene av 2020, er vi veldig trygge på at RNF-’96 vil prestere på og over forventningene som en allsidig og leken maskin for surfere på mange nivåer. EGENSKAPER Rocker-kurver: Forblir forankret i de originale, utprøvde kurvene. Konturkurver (Outline): Både baug og hale var vanligvis like brede ved 12 tommer og forblir tro mot dette, men med mer presisjon, inkludert ekstra kurve og bredde rundt 6 tommer fra halen. En «hemmelighet» bak originalens suksess var at i motsetning til nesten alle andre fish-brett var halebredden på vår nærmere et typisk ytelses-shortboard (HP). Dette gir mye mer kontroll fra halen enn typiske fish-design. Bunnkonturer: Den klassiske kombinasjonen av enkel konkav til dobbel konkav og akselererendes vee er definerende designelementer som holdes hevd i hevd. Tykkelsesflyt, dekklinje, rails og halefolie: Disse var overalt på kartet i de elementære dagene med håndforming. Hvert brett var forskjellig, og de fleste hadde merkbart ulike kurver og tykkelser fra den ene railen til den andre. Da jeg skulle gjenskape disse brettene: Hvilket er det riktige? Den unike ytelsen til BlackSheepBuilt-brettene kommer fra Triax-karbonet, som kombinerer et trippelakset +30/-30°/0° oppsett. Dette er et u-krumpet («un-crimped»), flerretningsbestemt karbon som forsterker og kontrollerer vridningskreftene (torsjon) fra rail til rail. Multiaksialt karbonfiber er et flott alternativ til tradisjonelt vevd karbonfiber fordi det består av lagvis innrettet, ensrettet karbonforsterkning. Siden det ikke er vevd, vil ikke fibrene «krumpe» over og under vinkelrette fiber slik tradisjonelle vevde stoffer gjør. Fibrene ligger flatere, holder på mindre epoxy/resin, og forblir glattere, rettere og sterkere med en mer naturlig flex. I motsetning til tradisjonelle vevde stoffer er det heller ingen 90-graders karbon fra rail til rail, noe som ellers skaper svakhetspunkter og gir lett sprekker, buckles og brudd i dekket. Med +30/-30°-retningen på stoffet stråler vridningskreftene og trykket fra surferens føtter utover mot mer av raillinjen. Dette skaper mer drive, bedre kontakt og dermed høyere kontroll med brettets kanter og perimeter. Styrke og stabilitet under føttene og langs raillinjen jobber sammen som én enhet. ADVARSEL: Surfebrett i karbonfiber kan lett bli brennhete! De er mørke... og som alt annet som er mørkt, suger de til seg sol og varme. BlackSheepBuilt-brettene er laget med lett EPS-skum og et skall av karbonfiber. BlackSheepBuilt-brett er en eksklusiv, high-end surfebrettkonstruksjon. Behandle dem deretter. Ikke legg dem igjen i bilen mens du er på butikken. Ikke la dem ligge i direkte sollys mens du soler deg på stranden. De vil bli varme, og det er fare for at de overopphetes og delaminerer/bobler opp. Beskytt og ta vare på investeringen din. Vi anbefaler å oppbevare disse brettene trygt i en varmereflekterende bag. Ta bagen helt ned på stranden hvis du planlegger å henge i solen før eller etter du har surfet. Hvis brettene først får en ding, la dem tørke helt ut og reparer dem ordentlig.
